Depending on where you live, the weather is finally getting warmer. Summer is pretty much already here. Here are some sports which can be enjoyed during the warmer weather, or just simply an excuse to go outside or do something active.

Whether you like something calming or intense, find your challenge and get active. Even if you don’t want to play a sport, you can still go outside and just go for walk. Here are 5 sports which are fun outside in the warmer months.

Rock Climbing

Kind of an extreme sport and definitely not for the faint of heart. However, if you live for adventure and thrill then maybe climbing a mountain of a low or high peak is exactly what you want to do. Or maybe you like to do indoor or outdoor rock climbing which can still be just as fun.

Surfing is considered dynamic and accessible, meaning adults, children and even dogs can learn. The popular sport has also inspired several variations, including windsurfing, wakeboarding and skim boarding. If you’re looking to try surfing for the first time, it’s best to rent the equipment and seek out a qualified instructor. Remember to wear a wetsuit if the water is cold and to have fun with it. Very few people master surfing during their first lesson, but those who stick with it quickly develop the skills and passion for the sport.

For overall fitness, playing a game of tennis is one of the best options: Not only is it a relatively low-impact activity—especially when you play on clay or grass courts—that you can do at almost any age, but it can burn more than 500 calories an hour while working your body and your brain as you strategize where to hit the ball and anticipate where your opponent will go with her shot.

Kayaking is a versatile sport that can be done in practically any body of water and is easily pared with other activities, like camping or fishing. Different kayaks are designed to handle specific conditions. Some are made for taking on white water courses, while others are built for racing and then there’s everything in between. Rivers, lakes, oceans and even surf zones are popular spots for kayaking and due to the different types, everyone from beginners to experts can enjoy the sport.

Water polo

The sport combines speed and strength, as well as teamwork and a high level of fitness. Put simply, there are goals at each end of the pool and the winner of the game is the team that scores the most goals by getting the ball between the posts.
